January 3rd

Alexander died on January the 3rd, together with his friend Marcel.
They went to Apeldoorn, to go out for the night. Apeldoorn is about 25 min. driving from Harderwijk. The car got in to a skid. Nobody knows how this happened. Alexander and Marcel died immediately.

The police were at our parents door, early in the morning. It is hard to explain how you feel at that moment. My parents and the police went to the hospital in Apeldoorn to identify Alexander. We (Ria en Leoni) went to our parents home. Carla & Gary (the neighbours) and Joke & Wim (friends of the family) were there for us.

During the day a lot of family and friends came over. Marcels parents also visited us. We already knew each other for a long time and tried to support each other.

At 6.00 PM we could finally visit Alexander. Alexander was dressed very beautifully. He was in a beautiful funeral parlour. If we wanted to, we could visit him 24 hours a day. We could decorate the room anyway we wanted to. And if we wanted, we could play some music. We took some pictures with us and placed them in the room, with Alexander.
